LADIES CLUB/MEN’S CLUB
Highlands has both. Our Ladies Club plays regularly from March to October. Our Men’s Club plays year-round. Most of our women’s events are 9 holes; the Men prefer 18. With an emphasis on fun and fellowship, competition is ever-present but good-natured rather than intense. Memberships are quite reasonable ($20 per year for men; $10 for women) and green fee plans are available on both a seasonal and/or annual basis. Information brochures are available at Highlands golf shop.
WHAT DO HIGHLANDS PLAYERS SAY?
Golfers who play at Highlands have a variety of reasons why the course is ideal for their ‘game’. Colleen Demko is retired and plays every day, rain or shine. She gets her daily exercise walking Highlands and it takes just an hour or more out of her day. So does Ralph Hodge, a senior who can still hit it a long way but has seen remarkable improvement in his short game since he started playing at Highlands. “And it doesn’t take all day,” he adds. Brittany Cure is 16 (going on 17) who’s just getting started at playing after going to a summer golf camp. “It’s a terrific course for beginners,” she offers, “Highlands rocks!” Course record-holder Bob Hess, the former golf coach at Puyallup high school, has become another Highlands regular. He still plays some of the longer courses but credits Highlands with providing him those all-important “day- after- day short shot opportunities.”
